This lecture introduce the vision and the experiences called “Travesías”, developed during 40 years by the School of Architecture and Design of the Catholic University of Valparaíso (PUCV), as a way of asking about the poetic destiny of América from the offices as Poetry, Design and Architecture. This experience started with a poem/book called “Amereida”, written by philosophers, architects, artists and poets during a trip around América. This gave a strong beginning to a methodology that unifies a way of thinking, studying and constructing, facing the American Extent and projecting a collective work as a gift for the place.
Some questions about the observation, the destiny of the work, and the formal development that come from this way of thinking and making, will be shown, in order to explain how they are reinterpreted for each context with the resources available, defining the lightness or how ephemeral the work is, and also how important the language and the relation with other offices offer a fructifer dialogue and creative material for the projection of every work.
